I Think My Legend Autoroutes

i was messing around with my legend in demo mode and noticed that if you make a goto that isnt too comlicated, and have lock on road turned on, the triangle will go to the waypoint while staying in the streets.

 

why does it do this. was it included on purpose or is it just a perk?

Try it in reality and report back.

I tried metroguide, and it does not quite work, it may do normal interesections ok but nothing else, it could get you in a mess. Lock on Road selectively grabs or locks on the nearest road as your passing with a simple goto(If Lock-On-Road is turned ON). Ramps and connectors are out of the question, these only work with true AutoRouting. Metro Guide can create Routes for the GPS, but the GPS cant autoroute.

The Demo mode displays how a route works, not an auto route.

It's a demo of what you would see if you have a route saved and follow that route again. That is not autorouting. Autorouting is giving the GPS a start point and a destination, and having it give you a route automatically that follows roads. The Legend won't do that.
