desertfrog49
I am sure that there is a lot of personal preference involved, but which GPS unit seems to be the most popular? I am looking at the mid-range Garmin units (145.00--200.00 or so). The better Magellans are out of bounds financially as are the top-line Garmins. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
The Legend is a great choice. If you look hard enough, you can find it new for as little as $160. Quote Link to comment
+TotemLake
Well if its not too far out of your reach, REI has a sale going on right now for the Meridian Platinum @ $245. Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
Costco has had a nice package deal on the Magellan Sportrack - sorry, I don't know the details off hand. Quote Link to comment
+Nurse Dave
Or you get the Merigreen on ebay for just over $100. With the SD card there isn't a ton of features I'd pay for to get the gold or the platnium. Quote Link to comment
desertfrog49
Thanks all. Lots of input--all appreciated. I guess I'll scratch my head a little more. desertfrog49 Quote Link to comment
desertfrog49
Wound up with a Magellan Sportrak Map. The only thing it is short on is memory (just like me, so it and I should do well together). Thanks again for your input. Looking forward to my first find. desertfrog49 Quote Link to comment
+Pen-mawr
Another Magellan SporTrak map here, $160 - $200 if you shop around. I worried about the memory issues when I was choosing it but the store gave me the option to try it then if I wasn't satisfied I could exchange it for the SporTrak Pro. I found that without all the points of interest I can load a detailed road map of half of Missouri in the available memory - more than enough for my needs. I choose the Magellan over the equivalent Garmin simply because the screen was slightly larger. Quote Link to comment
thorin
I recently bought a Geko 201 ($164 CDN) and have no complaints what-so-ever about it. Thorin Quote Link to comment
