Blue Contrails
Hi everyone! I've just joined Geocaching and I'm already scouting some locations for hiding a chache. But first I need to get a GPS receiver. I've been comparing the 76CS and the 60CS. They both look like good units. On the one hand I like the 60CS. It looks very rugged. What's the 76CS case made of? On the other hand having the extra memory on the 76CS is nice plus it would be easier to mount in a car. What's your personal experience been like with either one? +Smogman
Used Both My choice and that's all it is, 60CS both are great units, it all boils down to preferance Quote Link to comment
+pcmike
I think the question you should ask yourself is do you really need what the 76CS has that the 60CS doesn't... and if you do then get the 76CS. OR, if you're really just looking to spend money and look good doing it (which is quite fine by me), just get the 96CS. I'd always buy the best I can at the time, its part of the fun in buying electronics!! Edited July 27, 2004 by pcmike Quote Link to comment
MacBandit
If your looking at hitting the trail with one or the other consider the size of each. In person and in the hand the 76 seems much bulkier then the 60c. Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
I agree with the others. The 76CS has three advantages over the 60CS. 1.) It floats. Important on water, useless otherwise. 2.) 115 MB user map memory. If 55 MB isn't enough, then there's no choice. 3.) Better basemap. 13 MB has more data than 9 MB, of course. Excellent for overview, useless for detailed navigation. Whether you like the buttons above or below the screen is a personal preference. Other functionality is equal, since they use the same firmware. The Vista C seems to include exactly the same functions as well, but with 8 MB basemap, 24 MB for user maps, patch antenna and no serial port. Smaller size and easier to handle with one hand, though.
