gm100guy
I was wondering if at the top of getting started or some where around here if you could post faq and teach users how to search the forms so we don't see the same topics over and over again. Link to comment
Jeremy
You mean the post that has always been pinned to the top of the Getting Started forum? Link to comment
gm100guy
You are right it is there and I did miss it as I have not looked there for awhile. You could still have a seperate topic pinned at the top on searching? Link to comment
Keystone
Not to pick on you, but your own experience in overlooking the FAQ thread illustrates what I see on a daily basis when I close duplicate threads or refer someone to an existing resource to answer their question. The search button is right there at the top of the page. It's right next to the Help button, which has a brief discussion of how to search. And the FAQ topic has a post advising people to make use of the search feature, with a link to it. I think no matter how many times you say something, or in what font size, or if it opens in a popup window, there will always be people who will overlook whatever instructions are provided. Yeah, the FAQ material could be organized a bit better, and be more complete and up to date. That's being addressed, but it is not the highest priority project. Link to comment
+planetrobert
maybe we could have a FAQ forum i mean Edited August 26, 2004 by ralann Link to comment
+PDOP's
I think that the default settings on the search ( 30 days ago and newer) is part of the problem. Perhaps the global default could be changed to a longer period ( 1 year?) so that newbies get better search results for previous topics. Link to comment
