+intense
I tried ripping part of the site earlier and I think geocaching.com didn't like me doing that. I seem to have gotten myself locked out of the main part of the site. Everything works fine until I start looking up caches, and then I just get blank screens. Is there some way I can get "unlocked"? I didn't mean to stir up trouble by ripping too much of the site but my IP seems to be banned Link to comment
+The Leprechauns
From the Terms of Use that you agreed to by signing up for an account here: 5. Access and Interference Much of the information on the Site is updated on a real time basis and is proprietary or is licensed to Groundspeak by our users or third parties. You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our express written permission. Additionally, you agree that you will not: (a) take any action that imposes, or may impose in our sole discretion an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure; or ( interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Site or any activities conducted on the Site or other measures we may use to prevent or restrict access to the Site. Was there something unclear about that? I am DELIGHTED that Groundspeak appears to be enforcing this section of the TOU through means such as throttling. The site is running very quickly and smoothly as I prepare for a four day weekend of geocaching, looking at one cache page at a time. Seems like things have sped up since the throttles were added. Jeremy
Stay away from the site for a while. It's not a permanent ban so you'll get it back eventually. An hour or so is more than safe. Link to comment
