Solo Caching Record?

Team Perks

Recommended Posts

Just a curiousity item stemming from all this recent hype about the new record for most caches found in a 24-hour period.

Is there a current record-holder for the most caches found by a SINGLE PERSON in one day? Ace Flapperhacker spent Monday finding 90 caches in Lancaster/Palmdale, Calif. on a solo caching blitz.

While it doesn't knock the socks off the 246 caches found by the group in Jacksonville, it's far more than I would EVER be able to pull off on my own! (I get bored by the time I hit double-digits unless I have company.)

Has anyone found more than 90 caches in a day while going it alone? No team mates, no spouses, no friends...just completely solo?

90 in a day is cruisin! Going solo is harder than going in a team. The value of a navigator, someone reading cache pages in advance, and such is hard to overstate. Having extra eyes on the actual hunt is certainly helpful, but having eyes and fingers that aren't glued to the road is a win, too.

I've only broken 40 in a day six times with my best being 64. There was some seriious distance in a couple of them, such as the day I started in IN and powercached there and KY until after dark and kept caching until I got home in TN.

All six of those days were solo; just me, my Plat, and a PDA.

WOW!!! that is incredible 90 in 24 hours. that is an average of 3.75 per hour or 16 minutes per cache.

Actually I started at midnight and got to the last one at 9:18 PM. I also lost 1 hour to construction and road work and closed parks and another hour to getting majorly stuck in some clay type mud so that would make the per hour count slightly higher. :o

Ace Flapperhacker is my brother so I can speak from a certain amount of experience here. Once he gets something in his mind, he does it come Hell or high water. dadgum the torpedoes, full steam ahead kind of guy. All I can say is at least all the family members don't carry the gene. Some of us are not obsessed (I tell myself that daily). More power to him but for me, I'm bowing out of the race.

that makes it EVEN MORE AMAZING I dare i say (with respect) BOW to your GREATNESS

that is, IMHO, a much better record or accomplishment than the 240 +/- by a team. I'd be worn out by 30 or 50.

i'm like Joypa, I quit. cache me in

Around these parts, there is this idea that if you can't find it in five minutes, you should call a lifeline. So, it's all the more impressive if you never called for help. I don't know if I could find 90 caches in 24 hours *with* calling for help, or if I had the hider with me, or had a guide with me who had already found all the caches. Kudos on your solo achievement!

IMHO, Mass Caching as an individual is an undisputed accomplishment. I've always had my doubts about teams that log their individual accounts. :) Does all the members of the team really see and sign every log. No way. :)

So I say to Ace Flapperhacker... WAY TO GO!!! :D;):)

If you are asking about the team 24 hour records, in each case the team members found all the caches together at the same time. I figure I am not responsible for explaining that anymore though (Yay!). You can can find info through a search. :D

If you mean general teams out there that are all family members etc sharing an account, then no, likely not all find every cache, but that is OK. There are large number of "teams" like that. I don't see anything wrong with that unless they are trying to pass themselves off as something they are not. It is not like there is some kind of competition going on or anything.
