+RocketMan
Dan-oh was telling me in the San Diego thread that some areas have high res color aerial images that you can dl into USAPhotoMaps. I just updated the application and I still can't get them. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Dan-oh gets this when he fully zooms in on Disneyland: I get this: Mine is not a cached image either, I just downloaded it this morning. Thanks, RM Quote Link to comment
peter
The recent versions give you three options for 'Map Type': Photo, Topo, and Urban Area. To get the highest resolution color photos you need to select the Urban Area map type. Quote Link to comment

+gnbrotz
Does anyone know if there is a list of exactly what areas have the high-res color aerials available without actually trying to download a particular area? Quote Link to comment
+Dan-oh
RM, I just posted the same solution over in the San Diego forum. Looks like that might be your hang up. Quote Link to comment
+RocketMan
Thanks to those who showed me the error in my ways. Now that I have that mystery solved, maybe someone can shed some light on this: I get older aerial views in USAPhotoMaps than I do when I use TerraClient. I thought they both used the same TerraServer data, so why would I get different vintages of data? Example: Here is my neighborhood in USAPhotoMaps: Here is approximately the same area in TerraClient: RM Edit: Fixed second image. Edited November 26, 2004 by Rocket Man Quote Link to comment
JDMC
I'm curious, too. What's the lat/lon of that aerial photo? Doug Cox Quote Link to comment

JDMC
Well, the 8 meters/pixel aerial photos in USAPhotoMaps look like your example, but the 1 meter/pixel aerial photos in USAPhotoMaps look like the example of TerraClient. One is newer than the other. Microsoft does update the data, but the only way to get new data is to delete the old data (you could just press the Delete key in USAPhotomaps and then download that screen, and if that tile looks new, you could press Ctrl-Delete to delete the whole row of photos and download a row of the new photos).
