Jumbo Village
Hi guys. I've organised an Event Cache in London, which was originally meant as a farewell party, but is now a welcome back party! Please write a note in the cache if you intend to arrive (and reply here too please). The last time we had one here, it was a great success. I doubt I'll book the room this time though... I guess we'll see how many are interested. February 10th @ 19.00 HERE IS THE LINK AGAIN!! Hope to see you there Richard Quote Link to comment
+House Of Boo
The ultimate event deterrent... The House Of Boo will be in attendance!!! +Simply Paul
Breaking my post fast to say this is the best news I've had in ages!!! I'll be there, and I hope L&E will be there to accept a drink as well as my thanks for their change of mind/heart/any other organ of choice. Off to read the other posts to hear all the news I've missed. It's good to be back (if only briefly - I'll see what's been happening in my absence..) SP First post in a week, first edit for spelling in a week. Nothing much changes, does it? Edited January 12, 2005 by Simply Paul Quote Link to comment
+kbootb
Very likely...let's say 86.72% or thereabouts. but don't hold me to it. Quote Link to comment
+Stuey
I've organised an Event Cache in London psssst, promoting your own cache is considered bad form . Where's a forum moderator when you need one hehe . Sorry I can't make it Quote Link to comment

+Marvo434
Will be there if I can, not a definite but an interested possible maybe perhaps. Urgh, just a thought, if people find the cache without coming to the forums, there is nothing in the cache description to tell them what date (apart from date hidden) or time to attend. +lordelph
Ah smashing, count me in. I missed the last one after getting sent to Washington DC, but with any luck I''ll make this! Quote Link to comment

+Globetrotter.uk
As this will be during my birthday month, I will drop a few hints to where I fancy going to, rather than what I want. Quote Link to comment
Ben Pid
Piddi will be there. With GPS! Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Well, if there's birthdays going on, I think we should bake a cake! Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
Well, if there's birthdays going on, I think we should bake a cake! It's my birthday the following week. A nice jam sponge please ;-) Quote Link to comment
Ben Pid
I reckon you should hire the upstairs room again to be honest.... Makes sense if theres over 10 of us. The downstairs seemed pretty packed last time. Quote Link to comment
+mongoose39uk
Not sure if I can make it yet but will try Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Not sure about booking upstairs myself, as I thought we missed some of the atmosphere upstairs... What do others think? It will probably be a lot quieter in February. I will go with the flow anyways. See you there! Richard Quote Link to comment
+House Of Boo
Hire out the top floor again... even if its just to gauge how drunk i am by how much of my pint i spill getting up the stairs!!! House Of Boo Quote Link to comment
+Learned Gerbil
At least with us all in our own room you didn't have to risk starting a conversation about caching with a muggle by accident! Quote Link to comment
+kevin308
LOL Yeah I've never been there but the private room sounds better. Don't know what the locals would think with 20 people all trying to get a sat lock by the window to show each other what things Their GPS can do. do they do food in the pub? Quote Link to comment

+lordelph
I'm going to order some geocaching odds and ends from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk - if anyone wants some TB tags, cache stickers, logbooks etc, let me know and I'll "bulk order" to save on postage, and we'll settle up at the event. I'll order on 31st Jan....just add your requirements to the thread! Quote Link to comment
+Alibags
Do you think we could get the Event Log Book to this cache. Until recently I didn't even know that such a thing existed! I believe that it's heading for the NE this weekend. Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
Yup, here's the TB page for the "Event Log Book" - it's at the NE get-together today - hopefully we can encourage it to travel south over the next few weeks! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I could use some TB tags - can we split a 5 pack? If not, put me down for 5 (£16.88 inc VAT - is that a good deal? I've not released a TB before) Thanks and see you there! SP Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
I could use some TB tags - can we split a 5 pack? If not, put me down for 5 (£16.88 inc VAT - is that a good deal? I've not released a TB before) Thanks and see you there! The 5-pack from there seems to be the cheapest place to get them in the UK. So far, I'm getting 5 for myself, 5 for House of Boo, and for the time being I'm assume 5 for Simply Paul. The 5 pack works out at £3.37 per TB, so if folks that are coming let me know how many individual TBs they'd like, I'll get the appropriate number of 5-packs and keep any leftovers. +Globetrotter.uk
hey Lordelph I could use 3 small cache labels and 2 medium size please. Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
Final tally of stuff I'll bring to the event: 5 x TB tags for simply paul 5 x TB tags for house of boo 3 small cache labels and 2 medium size for globetrotter If there's any last minute requests, choose quickly and leave a message here by 12pm. +House Of Boo
Can I have a 1973 October issue of Bunty please Lordelph??? or are we only allowed Geocaching requests Thanks for the TB's, LordElph, shall we give you the money at the venue or before? House Of Boo Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
Oooh, October 1973 issue? Hard to come by that one, due to it having the final harrowing installment of "Mary's Lovely Pony". I'll do what I can, but it's likely to be costly. But a connoisseur like yourself doesn't need to ask the price. As for the TB tags, yes, just bring your money to the event. Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Hi Gang, I've been away on holiday over the past few weeks, which is why I haven't been updating this thread, but it's good to see that there's plenty of enthusiasm for it. I haven't booked the upstairs bit of the pub yet... Do people think I should, or shall we just chill out downstairs? I think the feeling before was that we should book it, if only to ensure my anorak is kept out of site!! Cheers Richard Quote Link to comment

+kbootb
Book the upstairs, makes it easier for first timers to know they are meeting the right people. If it was downstairs you would have to approach random strangers and try code words like WAAS and Garmin to see how they responded. Quote Link to comment
+lordelph
Yeah, book it possible, if only to give House of Boo somewhere private to read Bunty. Quote Link to comment
+milvus-milvus
I'm planning to be there - and will try to wear something to make me readily identifiable... Will have some TBs with me, and and possibly a new cache to launch (though not in the immediate proximity). Quote Link to comment
+esandman
Sounds like a good idea. As a first-timer at a GC meeting, I second the vote to book the upstairs. Otherwise - never having been to a gc meet before, how will I know who you all are? A. Quote Link to comment
+Learned Gerbil
I vote upstairs - I also have aload of TBs rescued from Afghanistan to release. Quote Link to comment
+House Of Boo
I will be willing to read excerpts from my favourite Bunty stories (including "Mary's Lovely Pony", "The Lost Kitten", "Netball Girl" and the never before seen, unpublished version of "Susie Loves Horses") at the event if we manage to book the upstairs function room!!! +lordelph
Richard emailed me to ask if I could get the room booked (as I'm sometimes working nearby). I'll not be in London until Thursday so I called them and it's all sorted. Room is booked from 7pm in my name (Paul Dixon) but he'll be happy to open it up for any early arrivals. Jumbo Village
I have a function on Friday, so need to prepare myself the night before... Therefore, I'll be an early starter, and probably off around 8.30. Hopefully there'll be loads of you there by then! Quote Link to comment
