diverhank
I have the pocket queries (gpx) sent to me via my yahoo mail account. Today I've got a couple of queries and the yahoo virus scanner told me the files contain virus and won't let me download them. What's going on??? Quote Link to comment
Mopar
From the PQ setup page: Known issues: Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) don't like *.loc or *.gpx files, and some email clients corrupt these files. It is recommended to zip them before sending. It has been reported that occasionally these emailed files are tagged as viruses by antivirus software. Since the files do not execute they should not be capable of delivering viruses. Zipping the files normally solves this problem. Did we mention you should probably zip your pocket queries? +Runaround
If you use Yahoo! you have to zip them. Quote Link to comment
diverhank
These files are indeed unzipped (because they are only a few kb big -- caches that were not found by anyone). Yesterday yahoo had no problem with it today it did. OK I'll zip them from now on. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Alibags
I have had the same problem recently with Hotmail. It says my attached PQ ZIP files are containing viruses. Later, it lets me download them and says they are okay. Hotmail has been a crock this last couple of weeks Quote Link to comment
The Leprechauns
Some ambitious virus checkers and spam blockers even peek inside zip files. From reading past threads, all it takes is for something like the "Viagra Travel Bug" to be listed in one of the caches returned by your pocket query, and your PQ e-mail is toasted.
