Richard CloudMade
The OpenStreetMap community is holding a mapping party in Tampa. FL on November 22 and 23, 2008 and hope that some of you will join us. OpenStreetMap.org is a project to create a wiki-style map of the world. That is, the software tools are free, and the map data is free. There are 70,000 OpenStreetMap contributors around the world. Custom maps are a big part of OpenStreetMap. In fact, the custom cyclemap tool for OpenStreetMap was awarded a Commendation from the British Society of Cartographers at their annual awards a few weeks ago. The benefit to GeoCachers are: - a great online map - that can be kept up to date - and printed for hand held use - and loaded on to your hand held GPS, cell phone and or PDA (!) - plus the fun of contributing to the world wide map of everything. I'll be pleased to answer any of your questions to the best of my ability. I'm traveling this week, so email is best or provide a number where I can call you between my flights. There is a short article for bikes and maps on my site. You should be able to see the applications for a custom map to GeoCachers! http://weait.com/cyclists-love-openstreetmap We'll be mapping on both Saturday and Sunday. Check the wiki for details and please use upcoming or meetup to RSVP. http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1304299 http://www.meetup.com/OpenStreetMap-Tampa/ OpenStreetMap: We're mapping the world, one neighborhood at a time. It's fun. It's free. You can help. See you there, Richard Quote Link to comment
