We had 3 TBs in our inventory and we dropped them in three different caches.

When we returned home after the weekend we went to log them as being dropped but found that they were not in our inventory, so we couldn't log them as being dropped.

We went to the TB site and it was indicated that they were grabbed not from us but from a cache that we had retrieved them from.

How is that possible?

They were definitely in our inventory and the TB site shows that we had retrieved them.

Somebody found, took and logged those trackables after you dropped them, but before you got the chance to log your drops. That's somewhat inconsiderate behaviour, but occasionally it happens. I'd just forget the whole issue, online records (most likely) are consistent with actual tb status and nothing has been lost.

Edit: just realized that the bugs were never logged into the cache you dropped them into. If you still have the codes, you could grab them back to you and drop into the correct case, then the mysterious cacher would need to grab them back to himself. Probably a better way would be to e-mail the grabber and ask him to dip the tb:s in the cache to get their history right. Or just let it go - one cache missing from tb history will not cause the end of the world.

When you log a Trackable item, sometimes you find it in a cache that it is not listed in, or you get it from another cacher at an event. That is why there is the "grab from somewhere else" option when logging. This is what they did. They should have checked the physical logbook when they took the TBs to see when they were dropped, who dropped them, and then given you time to log it. Backdating it now would require their cooperation.

Thanks again for your replies.

We were thinking of grabbing the TB from somewhere else and logging as being grabbed from from the cache we put it in on a date before this cacher grabbed it, then dropping it back in the cache on that date.

But there is a problem with that as you don't have the option of grabbing the TB from somewhere else if it is in a cacher's possession.

Still wondering how he could grab it, without grabbing it from us.
